DAY 2 – COUTANCES & CHÂTEAU DE GRATOT
🚗 9:30 – Leave the gîte
Gîte La Pamphilienne → Coutances
Approximately 45 minutes by car.
⛪ 10:15 – Coutances Cathedral
Visit the magnificent Coutances Cathedral, one of Normandy’s finest examples of Gothic architecture.
The cathedral is open on Monday from 9:30 am to 7:00 pm, and an English audio guide is available.
Allow about 1 hour.
🌳 11:30 – Jardin des Plantes
Take a pleasant walk through the Jardin des Plantes de Coutances.
On Monday in September it is open from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm.
🍴 12:30 – Lunch in Coutances
Three possibilities:
- LA TABLE DU HAMEAU GUILBERT – open Monday lunchtime.
- Le Brazero – open Monday lunchtime.
- Restaurant de l’Hôtel de Ville – open Monday lunchtime.
🏰 14:15 – Château de Gratot
Drive approximately 10 minutes from Coutances to the beautiful Château de Gratot.
The medieval château, with its romantic ruins and famous Tour Mélusine, is particularly atmospheric.
It is open on Monday 10:00 am–7:00 pm, with last admission at 6:00 pm. Admission is around €5 per adult.
There are also two contemporary art exhibitions running until 20 September 2026, so your guests can combine history and art.
☕ 16:30 – Coffee / free time
Take a little time in Coutances before heading back.
🚗 17:30 – Return to Courtils
Coutances → Gîte La Pamphilienne
Approximately 45 minutes.
